The Putnam Northern Westchester Women's Resource Center provides advocacy, education and services to the community in order to create a safe, supportive environment that eliminates violence against women and children and promotes gender equality.
Who We Are...
Born out of a 1970's grassroots, women's consciousness raising group, and incorporated in 1979 the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center (WRC) has grown from an idea into a thriving 501(c)(3) non profit agency that is meeting the immediate and longer term needs of women, children, and men who are victims of violence.
The organization is governed by a dedicated and passionate Board of Directors and facilitated by professional staff and dedicated volunteers who annually assist more than 1,500 women, children and men; in person, by phone, and through video conferencing.
Through residential (emergency domestic violence shelter, rapid rehousing, rental supplement programs), and non-residential (resource center, court programs, hospitals, therapy, advocacy, and case management) services, victim and survivors of violence, are offered free and confidential services to support their recovery from the violence.
The WRC is recognized and well regarded in the community for its unique work in providing services, resources and leadership in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and child sexual abuse.
It fulfills its mission through both individual efforts and strategic partnerships with other organizations. It encourages and supports interactive learning and shared decision making among and between all levels of the organization. The WRC constantly challenges itself to meet the ever-changing needs of the community it serves.
